This is a demographic analysis of marital dissolution. It is an attempt to examine regional differentials in determinants of marital dissolution, with a view of explaining the factors influencing the rates, levels and finally pattern of marital dissolution. The study objectives are as follows: to determine marital dissolution by specific durations of marriage for selected characteristics of women for each region, thus determine regional differentials of these factors as determinants of marital dissolution; to find out the nuptial patterns of those instable and unstable unions; and to suggest policy recommendations which could help deal with this socio-demographic problem
