dc.description.abstract | This thesis presents the results of paleomagnetic and rock magnetic studies of the rocks from South West" Kenya and of the Precambrian Granites from the Western part of Kenya. The rocks from South Western Kenya consist of basalts, trachytes, nephelinites, melanephelinites, olivine melanephelinites, ignimbrites and welded tuff. The rocks have been classified into five groups based on their Stability Index of the NRM. The correlation of the Stability Index with opaque petrology and thermomagnetic analyses appears to be significant. The highly oxidized ..specimens are found to carry | en |
