In this study, the influence of meteorological factors and soil moisture on the water status of the potato crop was ivestigated. The study was carried out at Kabete Field Station, Kabete Campus on three potato cultivars, Desiree Tana and B53. The experiments were carried out; in the first one, during early 1922, the plants were grown out in the field. In the second experiment carried out during the later part of 1982, the plants were grown in plastic bags but were kept outside in the open. soil moisture contents, soil temperatures, stomatal diffusive resistance, leaf temperature, air temperature, relative humidity wnds-speeds, radiation and evaporation data were obtained during the course of both these experiments. The following are some of the results obtained as a result of this study:………………………………………………………………….
