    Abstract
The world trend on military matters is a trim, highly efficient and effective army. A number of developed countries have managed to achieve the above through computerisation of the various areas of their forces. To a great extent military weapons systems have been computerised and certainly that is why countries like USA, Britain among others have been able to achieve success in almost all of their military engagements. This project was a case study in computerising military equipment and weapon systems to create weapons Management Information System for the Kenya Armed Forces. The system can serve as an inventory MIS and most important the system will come in handy as a strategic planning tool within the Kenya Armed forces. The system will be used to store all information relating to the weapons and equipment of the armed forces and it will also capture all the details about the formations of the armed forces and how they are deployed. In strategic planning the system can provide information that can be used as a basis for optimal deployment of troops, weapons and equipment in case of a military operation. The system was modelled along the principles of (Structured System Development and Design Methodology) SSDAM while information and data was collected using observation, interview and questionnaire methods.· Modular design was generally adopted for code development. The system was developed using oracle 8.0 as a database and developer 2000 as an application developer.
