This work describes the establishment of British colonial administration over the Gusii people of Kenya and the years 0f British rule down to Kenya's independence in 1963. During the more than five decades of colonial domination, many changes of great magnitude altered radically the traditional Gusii political, military, judicial, economic, and educational systems, and Gusiiland was affected in numerous other ways. At the same time, the Gusii became part of a larger political unit, the East Africa Protectorate, later the Colony and Protectora te of Kenya.en
