A study of the supply of electricity to rural areas with particular application to Kitui-Machakos Districts in Kenya
Abstract
This report deals with the study of
possible ways of supplying electIcity to the
rural areas. Two major ways are distinguished
(i) Extension of existing power lines and (ii)
local generation. The various renewable
sources of energy and ways in which they can
be converted to electricity are presented.
These are compared from technical and economical
view points.
Rural loads are briefly presented and
grouped on the basis of geographical location
and social status of users.
