Integrated rural development a case study of Aswa county, West Acholi district, Uganda, using water resources as a base for development
Abstract
The concept of integrated rural development is
multi-dimensional. It calls for a unified socioeconomic
development of rural areas in order to .
bridge the gap between urban and rural areas. The
concept is becoming increasingly popular in the
developing countries of The Third World where
urbanization is taking place at an alarming speed.
This Thesis seeks to determine the feasibility
of using development of water resources as a base
for stimulating and promoting integrated rural
development. The Thesis has attempted to devise
a planning methodology that could be applied in
the identification of development priority areas
for co-ordinated water development programmes
with respect to integrated rural development.
