The use of Information and Communication Technologies (lCTs) in the construction industry is rapidly gaining popularity. The industry has already turned to ICTs in its quest for higher levels of efficiency during both the design and implementation stages of construction. The aim of this study was to examine the traditional project collaboration methods and identify their inherent shortcomings. The study also explored the practical application of ICTs in overcoming these shortcomings. The researcher next examined the mechanisms behind an Internet-Supported Project Collaboration Tool and the basic requirements it demands. Lastly, the study sought to establish whether this tool could be applied in the Kenyan construction industry. The findings are based on a questionnaire survey conducted between April and May 2002 among Kenyan Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Architects, Engineers and Quantity Surveyors. The survey was carried out in the city of Nairobi. The study concluded by recommendations on how to effectively implement an Internet supported project Collaboration Tool.en
