dc.description.abstractThe study sought to assess the role of Non Governmental organizations in facilitating participatory community development with Undugu society of Kenya as a case study. The study was necessitated by the fact that a number of Non Governmental organizations engage involve communities ln participatory initiatives without creating an organizational framework free from danger of unwanted dominion of the partnership NGO in question. There were two sets of field study areas from which the information was obtained. These were in Kibera through the Lindi development group and the Kanuku housing programme in Kitui -Pumwani field offices. The main method of data collection was the use of focus group discussions which were carried out in both the study areas. those who of 20 questionnaires were also administered for those who attended the focus group discussions. Another method Two sets used to obtain,information was through the interview schedule, participant observations and informal discussions.en
