Nairobi university: student centre
Abstract
Nairobi University Planning Office has noted the absence of a students'
centre on the main campus. No study or proposals has however been forward
In this project a study of physical and environmental characteristics of
such a centre has been carried out as well as the nature and types of
facilities it should offer.
I have attempted to design the students' centre to provide a suitable
forum for day to day meeting and interaction between students themselves
or with their friends from outside the campus.
The centre should also offer them service and recreational facilities while
furthuring their social and intellectual development.
To be able to study well the various communal facilities the student body
might need, I have overlooked any financial constraints especially regarding
the variety of facilities they might need. I have also overlooked any
preferred physical development the University might have on the site I have
chosen.
This report further explains how the concept on which the centre design
is based was arrived at, reasons for choice of a particular site as well
as an evaluation of the finally preferred design.
