dc.description.abstractThe tourist as well as the local people have more desire for recreational facilities, specially water sport. (boating and sailing) This thesis report deals with the development of a Marina at the proposed Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife's resort centre at the Coast. The Marina provides a sheltered berthage to the boats and supporting facilities such as boat repair yard, dining facilities,,bedrooms, etc., The basic objectives are: To have a protected harbour for boats from waves and currents. This would be done by the use of breakwaters and jetties. (i1) To provide the people with provisions for sailing and a place to repair the boats. These needs would be met by land based facilities like dining rooms, lounge, changing rooms, guest bedrooms, workshop and parking (iii) To provide an interesting and an inviting environment to the visitors. By retaining as much as possible the natural landscape and using local materials and technology, an interesting environment would-be achieveden
