Linear estimation of the scale parameter of the logistic population based on the sum of consecutive order statistics, when the location parameter is unknown, is discussed. A method based on a pair of single spacing and 'zero-one' weights rather than the optimum weights is presented. Limited simulations indicate small bias and variance' of the estimator, and reasonably high relative efficiencies with respect to the Cramer-Rae lower bound and best linear unbiased estimators (BLUE's) for small sample sizes.en
