Geographic Information Systems provide a multi-disciplinary approach to address many current issues in the society. Information sharing is the key to integrated approach to multiple problem solving and central to information sharing is knowing where things are and why they are there. GIS and Remote Sensing technologies assist in answering the question of what is where and why. The purpose of this project is to develop a geodatabase on the C- YES funded youth groups in Gatundu South Constituency. The objective is to replace the analogue method that is used in managing the information resources with a geodatabase that is user friendly. The project will produce digital maps of the study area highlighting the youth groups' project sites and develop a GIS database that will capture all the group attributes. Spatial information was obtained from existing topographical maps, digital maps and GPS waypoints obtained from the field. The non-spatial data was obtained from the District Youth office and from the youth groups by use of questionnaires. Both data sets were compiled and used to create a GIS database to be implemented by the District Youth Office in Gatundu for effective management of the C-YES fund. The soft wares used for creating the database were ArcView for spatial data input and Ms Excel for attribute data input. The results from the data analysis indicate that if the GIS database that has been developed can be implemented right from the point of C- YES disbursement and that effective management of the fund can be realized as group follow up would be easier and more effective.en_US
