Communication is a process of transferring information from one entity to another, or the imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs. It is also a process whereby information is enclosed in a package and is channeled and imparted by a sender to a receiver via some medium. (Adler, Rosenfeld and Proctor ,2001). The study sought to establish the effectiveness of the communication strategy used for fighting tuberculosis in Kenya, taking Kibera slum as the geographical scope. Its conceptual scope lied in establishing the effectiveness of TB con:munication strategy/approach, establishing the level of awareness of Kibera residents on the link between HIV and TB and how this, in turn, influences the residents' uptake of TB treatment and testing. The study adopted descriptive research design taking on a crosssectional survey on a sample of 96 respondents grouped into general population, patients, and health workers divisions. The data was gathered through questionnaires and analysis done using descriptive statistics. Radio was found to be the most effective and reliable tool of communication for TB awareness in Kibera. In addition, Posters were the major tools which made patients seek medication. The study further found that patients' denial of the seriousness of their symptoms, stigma associated with TB and with the perceived link with HIV / AIDS, Poor information about TB symptoms, Poor transportation and poverty are the major factors causing delay in biomedical diagnosis in Kibera. The study recommends that DLTLD should market the Lights of Hope communication strategy to make it effective. Further, the study recommends that all TB communication be geared towards encouraging people to be tested for TB once they show signs of TB, like chronic coughs.en_US
