This project examines the way Barack Obama uses style in his autobiography. By 'style' we refer to the wider meaning of the word. We therefore discuss three aspects of style: the author's organization of the material of his personal history, his use of the autobiographical artistry, and the literary features. Chapter one of the project identifies and justifies the problem. It relies on the research that has previously been done on the author's .writing. It also 'defmes the hypotheses, assumptions, objectives, and the scope and limitation of the project. Chapter two discusses the author's organization of the text as a feature of style. We discuss how the author's arrangement of the plot enhances the effectiveness of his style of narration for maximum effect. Chapter three examines the writer's use of the autobiographical artistry. We look into the portrayal of history, the journey motif, the autobiographical truth, transcendence, the foil, and how these aspects of the autobiography enhance style. Lastly, chapter four identifies and discusses the literary features of style that the author uses to enrich the story of his life. The conclusion summarizes the project by outlining the major findings and offers suggestions for further research.en_US
