dc.description.abstractThis paper focuses on globalisation and its influence on the shared life experiences and preoccupations of the Kenyan society. Globalisation is looked at as a multidimensional concept incorporating the economic, cultural and political dimensions which constitute the elements of social structure. This is the conceptualisation applied to the analysis of such development in Kenya. There is also an attempt to identi1i some societal factors which contribute to changing social structure and values. Some of the major factors discussed include modernisation, urbanisation, population growth, economic changes and related problems and challenges. The paper explores the possibility of globalisation from beloibut concludes that the Kenyan society has not managed to articulate a counter-discourse to resist globalisation from above.en
