GA was applied at 250, 500, 750 or 1000 mg/l. The 500-mg level in the laboratory increased germination from 5 (control) to 45.2%, and survival from 2 to 25.7%. Under field conditions the comparable figures for germination were 40 to 89.3%; survival was 100% in both cases
