| dc.description.abstract | Capacity Building is a buzz word in the organizational world- with differing meaning to different individuals and organizational leaders. However there's renewed interest among non governmental organizations. In this paper we address capacity building as involving a systematic process whereby different aspects of an organization have to be addressed, whether profit-making or non-profits. This is countered to project sustainability which is crucial to strengthening the sector and improving the quality of life of those they serve. Chapter one describes the situational aspect of the phenomenon globally, regionally and locally, while stating the problem that requires such work to be undertaken to improve non-profits' capacity.
The study formulated three study objectives to guide the study which are 1) to identify training approaches 2) network formation and lor partnerships initiated between organizations and 3) to establish the influence of the institutional framework of non governmental organizations towards project sustain ability. Chapter two involves literature review on the various topics that are to provide an impetus to the study. These included literature on training and development, partnerships and network formation and institutional development. Chapter three encompasses the various methodologies that were employed to acquire data that would add value to the study. These include the sampling procedures, research design of the study and data analysis techniques.
Data analysis was carried out through the use of the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) this included descriptive analysis, frequency presentation and interpretation of data, correlation and regression analysis among the independent and dependent variables. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics and discussion of the demographic data; this was followed by analysis of data on the training approaches and modes adopted by NGOs in achieving project sustainability. The consequent research questions were also analyzed and discusses as per the findings. Multiple regression analysis was also carried out so as to identify the level of influence of each independent variable on the dependent variable. Chapter five is a discussion of the findings and conclusions were inferred on these findings, recommendations emanating from the research study were also given and also suggestions for areas of further research as identified by the research study. | en_US |
