| dc.description.abstract | Technical, Industrial and Business education is gaining momentum in Kenya's rapidly changing education system. The growth of our industry partly depends on the quantity and quality of skilled manpower in all sectors of the economy.
The Industrial Instructor Training programme at Kenya Technical Teachers College was started to up-grade the quality of in-service technical, industrial and business
instructors in public, p a r a st a t a l and private sectors of the
ind u s tr y .
This study was set to survey the reaction of former trainees to the training programme and to determine the application of knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired from the training programme. The survey was centered on the former trainees' reaction to the course content, the resources and facilities used; and the general administration of the programme.
The results of the study show that the training programme is playing an important role in developing the I nstructors in the industry. The programme, however, could still be improved and expanded to cater for the
large number of I nstructors not yet trained.
The study has also emphasized the importance of evaluating training programmes. The author recommends
that evaluation of training programmes should be encouraged as a method of justifying the effectiveness of training. Recommendations for further research in evaluating training and development have also been suggested. | en |
