dc.description.abstractThis study examines the effects of implementing the Nairobi Rivers rehabilitation and restoration program on sanitation. The objectives of the study was to examine the characteristics of affected person with regard to its effect on sanitation, assess and participation in activities carried out along the Nairobi River basin. The study also sought to establish the measures in place to proper and on how to improve sanitation. Autority, other relevant lead agencies and from the internet. Qualitative and quantitative analysis was done and the data was presented in tables, graphs and figures and narratives. Nairobi River basin program there had been improvement on sanitation provision through increased access to clean tapped water, additional toilets, disposal of garbage, repairing of illegal discharge points and the sewerage system as mentioned by most of the television, radio, barazas, newspapers and close observation as the Ministry of Environment cleaned the river. The majority of the respondents also mentioned that they had not been involved in the programme through the Kazi Kwa Vijana program. However, the program faced challenges such as uncoordinated efforts, inadequate funding, inadequate community involvement, inadequate solid waste management and overstretched sewerage infrastructure. The study recommends stakeholder involvement, monitoring and evaluation, more funding, awareness creation, integrated solid waste management and improvement of the sewerage infrastructure to be enhanced.en_US
