Contributions to the hydrogeochemistry of the area to the immediate north of Nairobi Conservation Area, Kenya

Abstract

The hydrogeology of the area (800 km2) to the immediate north of the Nairobi Conservation Area, lying between longitudes 36°40′E and 37°00′E and latitudes 1°00′S and 1°15′S has been studied. Water samples were collected from boreholes in this area and analysed for the major mineral constituents namely Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, SiO2, total iron, F− and Cl−. The pH determinations were carried out. The concentrations of most of these mineral constituents were higher in the discharge than in the recharge area.
