dc.description.abstract | This study presents a comparative analysis of the middle stone age cores in two geographic zones of Central Kenya highlands and the lake Victoria basin sites of Kenya.The study is based on core excavated from Muguruk,Soghor,Prospect farm and prolonged drift sites that were stoned in the archaeology laboratory of the national museum of Kenya,Nairobi.Different attributes like shapes,sizes and production techniques were studied using metrical methods with a view of determining the influence of accessability to raw materials sources and nature of raw materilas to them. The study also tried to show how function influenced the weights of the cores. The following conclusions were drawn:That raw materials influenced the morphology of cores, that core shapes varies from different geographic regions and were influenced by nature of raw materials. | |
