dc.description.abstractWhat is presented in this dessertation is a socio-economic study of the conditions of women in Kibera Slums, as they struggle to survive for daily susistence in the slum areas in the marginal Fringer of Nairobi city. The, study is an attempt to describe the lives of these women who find for themselves in a hostile enviroment. In studing their changing lifestyles in an urban setting, the author has focused on their social life which include their up bringing education, married life, divorce and widowhood. A systematic view of women's lifestyles under situation of economic stress is also discussed.en
