This study set out to investigate how Corporate Social Responsibility can be used to foster sustainable community development. It sought to find out if there is a connection between good CSR and sustainable development in Kenya's rural areas. It also went on to look at the principles that connect shareholding and stake holding perspectives relevant to community development.
Corporate Social Responsibility emerged as a value system which an organization adopts in order to be responsible to broader society. Organizations that make the right choice and build focused, proactive and integrated social initiatives in concert with their core values succeed. Organizations should start thinking of CSR as integration, as building shared value rather than as damage control.
