Pomegranate, Punica granatum L., is an important tropical-subtropical fruit tree that is widely distributed, but not horticulturally well exploited, in Kenya. Six - to seven - year - old trees cultivated in private gardens around Nairobi showed unusual leaf blotches, fruit lesions and premature fruit fall during March-April 1981. The associated fungi during March-April 1981. The associated fungi have been identified as the two pathogens Pestalotiopsis versicolor (Speg.) Steyaert and Coniella granati (Sacc.) Petrak & Syd. The symptoms and mode of development of the disease are described for both the leaf and the fruit.
