dc.description.abstractChapter one on this study presents the background of the study, statement of the problem thal necessitated the research and the purpose of the research. The study was conducted to investigate the influence of management factors on implementation of the SMASSE programme in secondary schools in Kisii Central District. Management factors refer to aspects of management that may influence implementation of SMASSE in secondary schools. Motivation, resource provision and supervision constitute aspects of management under investigation. The study particularly sought to establish and recommend the kind of relationship that should exist between 1he management factors and implementation of the SMASSE programme in secondary schools in Kisii Central District so that the project goal of upgrading the capability of young Kenyans in Science and Mathematics could be attained. Chapter two has the relevant literature review of the identified management factors and their influence on the implementation of the SMASSE programme in secondary schools. The literature review is a collection of literature from research papers, national and international seminar reports, government publications, internet and books of management. The chapter has the theoretical framework whereby the two theories guiding the study are presented. The chapter ends with a conceptual framework showing the interrelationship among the variables. Chapter three presents the research methodology employed in the collection of data. The study was conducted using the survey method with the data being collected using questionnaire responses from 80 teachers and 20 head teachers selected randomly and purposively from the accessible population. The Chi-square test of independence of attributes and percentage distribution techniques were used to analyze data. Chapter four presents the result of the field research, data analysis, discussion and interpretation. The data collected is analyzed to determine the main management factors that influence implementation of SMASSE. Chapter five is the last chapter and contains a summary of findings from chapter four. From the findings, conclusions are drawn and recommendations made. The chapter ends with suggestions on areas for further research.en_US
