dc.description.abstract | This is a study of phonological and morphological adaptation of English and Kiswahili loanwords into Maasai language. The data used in this work reflect the Maasai language spoken in Kajiado District. The study is divided into four chapters. Chapter one will look at the background of the study, statement of the problem, research objectives, hypothesis, rationale and significance of the study.
Chapter two is an outline of the Maasai phonemic inventory, the syllable structure and the tone. Chapter three is the analysis of the modification processes of both English and Kiswahili loanwords in Maasai. The chapter is divided into two major sections. The first one deals with phonological processes while the other deals with morphological processes of adaptation.
Chapter four will offer a summary of the research findings. This will include remarks on the hypothesis as outlined in chapter one. The chapter will also give the conclusion of the study and offer recommendations for further research. | en |
