| dc.description.abstract | The basic objective of this work is to analyze tense and aspect in Standard Arabic within the theoretical framework of Chomsky's Minimalist Program (MP) .This study seeks to make an analysis of tense and aspect in Standard Arabic .In addition, it evaluates how applicable to the tense and aspect systems of Standard Arabic (spoken /written) the Minimalist Program (with more focus on the element of feature checking) is The Minimalist Program (MP) is used as the theoretical framework of this study. The MP is a recent theory developed from the Government and Binding (GB) theory (Chomsky 1981).
Chapter one provides a general background to the study. It gives an introduction to the language under consideration (SA), the statement of the problem, the objectives of the study, the hypotheses, the rationale of the study, scope and limitation, the theoretical framework, literature review, and the methodology used for conducting this study. Chapter two gives a detailed account on the Arabic Morphology.
