The Built Environment Of Kenyan Schools
Abstract
This is an examination of the environmental conditions experienced by the very young children in Kenyans rural primary schools during their tender learning years. Recently Kenyan have been very busy building Secondary schools and Universities. A lot of attention has been paid to the architecture, the environment and the standard of finish of these institutions. However, the Kenyan Primary school environment and standards of building finishes have received very little attentions; although a significant amount of building activity is going on to supply primary school space countrywide. This paper explores the status quo of the built environment and suggests ways of improving the school space for our children.
