UoN Alumni Newsletter (January, 2010)

Abstract

My fellow Alumni, welcome to UoNairobi, the new look publication of the University of Nairobi Alumni Association (UONAA). We have transformed the former Alumni Newsletter to a fully fledged magazine.

This being our lead issue, we are inviting you as Alumni to contribute articles on various topics for our future issues. These could be your real life experiences since leaving your alma mater, jokes, cross-word puzzles, features, human interest stories or business articles among others.

We are also encouraging current students from all campuses of the University of Nairobi (UoN) to also contribute articles which will go a long way in introducing the ideals of the Alumni Association to them.

In this issue, we have carried the real life experience of, Ms. Teresa Njue, a 2002 Bed Alumnus who narrates her experiences in trying to save the Maasai girl-child in the hostile environment of Kajiado and her happiness at serving humanity. We have also carried a message from the Vice- Chancellor, Professor George Magoha, and the thirst-quenching news of the launch of Royal Satima, a mineral water brand from the University of Nairobi.

As is the policy of the new look magazine, we have carried a short profile of one of our Alumni, Dr. Cleopa Mailu, the Chairman of the Medicine Chapter of UONAA. Wishing you a nice reading and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
