dc.description.abstractChapter one contains the background information and purpose of the study. The purpose of the study was to determine the foreign entry strategies adopted by Equity Bank Ltd into Southern Sudan and Ugandan Markets. The study will act as a reference point to senior management in Kenyan Banks with regard to market entry strategies into both Ugandan and Southern Sudan markets In chapter two, we see the various modes for foreign entry. The study clearly indicates why firms pursue internationalizations strategies, selection of foreign market entry strategies and the business environments in Kenya, Uganda and Southern Sudan. In chapter three, the procedures for conducting the research are discussed. The study is a case study on Equity bank. This was found suitable because there are very few Kenyan firms, especially banks that have moved into Uganda and Southern Sudan. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis. Finally the study reveals that Equity Bank moved regionally through FDI. However, there are a couple of challenges facing the bank ranging from increased competition to political risk especially in Southern Sudan. As part of the recommendations, the research puts forward a necessity for environmental analysis as a key step in the process of selection of foreign entry strategies. The study also recommends further research of foreign entry into other markets within the continenten_US
