The dynamism of environment possesses challenges to organizations, which as open systems have to respond through appropriate strategies. There must be a must be a match between the strategic choice and the challenge in the environment. The appropriate strategy is necessary in order to remain competitive and sustainable. Deposit Protection Fund Board like any other firms have experienced changes in the external environment, which have called for adoption of strategic responses.
DPFB being a financial sector player has experienced challenges due changes in the external environment, which have propelled it to act. The objectives of this study sought to identify environmental challenges facing DPFB and the strategic responses adapted by DPFB to changes in the external environment. Primary data was collected from the Director of the Board and three Assistant Directors who are senior managers heading Finance and Administration, Liquidation and Legal Divisions.
The information required was obtained using unstructured in-depth interview guide. The data collected which is qualitative in nature, was analyzed using conceptual content analysis. Findings were then interpreted, conclusions made and recommendations. Findings from this study indicate that despite several challenges, DPFB has responded well to environmental changes.
