dc.description.abstractThe Royal Technical College of East Africa is a recent foundation: it was established by an Act of the High Commission on April 24th, 1954, and took in its first students in April 1956. The purpose of the College was to provide academic facilities for higher technological training, for professional training, for research work, and for certain vocational training, and thus to assist in the economic development of the East African Territories. To this end the College has at present Faculties of Engineering, Architecture, Commerce, Arts and Science, as well as Departments of Surveying, of Domestic Science and of Applied Art.en
