Performance management is important for any organisation that wants to remain relevant in today‟s competitive business environment. This study sought to find out the perceived effectiveness of performance management practice at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Kenya. The study used a descriptive survey with the population being all MSF employees working in the MSF coordination offices in Kenya. The study used the quota method to arrive at a sample size of 100. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics including mean and standard deviation, and the results were presenting using tables and pie charts. The results show that MSF employees have a positive perception of the effectiveness of performance management practice in at least five of the six areas the researcher looked at i.e. performance planning, ongoing feedback, performance review, performance evaluation and career planning and development. The main area which the employees did not have a positive perception was the area of rewarding performance. The study therefore recommends that MSF should review its performance management practice with the aim of improving the areas that are perceived to be ineffective by staff, specifically the area of rewarding staff performance. This research will be useful not only to MSF but to other organisations that may wish to carry out an audit on the effectiveness of their performance management practice. The methods utilized in this study can be replicated in other organisations.en
