This study was motivated by the need to fill this gap in knowledge as far as the relationship
between talent management and employee retention in the banking industry is concerned. The
objective of the study was to determine the relationship between Talent Management and
Employee Retention in the Kenyan commercial banking industry. The target population was the
43 Commercial Banks operating in Kenya. The primary data was collected using selfadministered
questionnaires completed by the Human Resource Officers. A total of 25
respondents filled and returned the questionnaires out of the 43 distributed. From the findings
most of the banks were locally owned with a staff population of more than 100. Most of the
respondents were male with work experience of more than ten years. Using Pearson’s correlation
analysis, it was found that there is a strong positive relationship between Talent Management and
Employee Retention and therefore management must give more attention to talented staff in
order to retain their services in the long term.
