The threat and actual acts of terrorism have been growing exponentially in the world. The traditional theaters however remain the Middle East and Africa – where ungoverned or poorly governed states have provided a favorable space for terrorist activity/terrorism. This study seeks to enlighten on the historical background of terrorism in Kenya and Nigeria through secondary analysis. The study also seeks to explore the factors that contribute to the phenomenon of terrorism, the actors involved, the motive behind the phenomenon and the nature of terrorism. The study seeks to carry out a comparative analysis of the counter terrorism measures put in place by the two countries. The study is part of a growing body of research into the phenomenon of terrorism and the conclusions therein drawn from the impact may give policy direction on the effective counter terrorism measuresen
