dc.description.abstractThis research focuses on Jomo Kenyatta university of Agriculture and Technology and its responses to the changing external environment. The universities in Kenya has experienced various changes in their external environment prompting responses from players in the higher education with an objective of mitigating risks and taking advantage of opportunities. Theoretically, it has identified a deeper understanding of how organizations respond to change in external environment ; it complements existing literature by analyzing trends in external environments, response strategies to changes in environment, role of government in regulating and financing the higher education, communication strategies and human resource management. This research identify that Organizational capabilities , knowledge and skills as key drivers of dynamic capabilities which allows lKUAT respond to challenges of complex and dynamic environment. Empirical evidence in the forms of survey findings, case study and views of senior university managers were considered to reconcile the documentary research, in arriving at the final conclusions. The research comprises of two parts; the first highlights relevant literature which provides the context for subsequent discussion and in the second part the research methodology, findings and overall conclusions are discusseden_US
