| dc.description.abstract | The study analysed the causes of food insecurity in a globalized world with
critical assessment of the Kenyan experience from 2003 to 2011. The study addressed
the main factors and drivers of food insecurity in Kenya and examined the effects of
globalization and climatic change on food security while exploring the linkages
between globalization and food insecurity. The neo- liberalist approach was adopted
for the study theoretical discussion in globalization. This research was purely desk
analysis in which the research employed the case study method in data collection and
analysis thus the study employed only secondary methods in data collection. The
study findings reveal how globalization, climate change, shortage in global food
supply coupled with the financial crises, have all impacted on food security around
the world, including Kenya. The study recommends that scholars and further research
into the area of food insecurity in Kenya but advocates the need to link food
insecurity studies to globalization in order to find lasting solutions to the problem of
