Supply chain management practices and supply chain performance at Tana and Athi Rivers development authority
Abstract
This is a thesis paper on supply chain management practices and supply chain
performance at Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority (TARDA). The study
sought to unravel the effect ofSCMP on performance ofTARDA. As such, the study had
two objectives; to determine the relationship between SCM practices and supply chain
performance at TARDA and to establish challenges that face implementation of the SCM
practices at TARDA. Importantly, the study reviewed literature on SCM practices,
application of SCM systems in SCM practices, SCM performance, SCM practices and
firm performance and challenges faced by the SCM practices. Nonetheless, the research
design used in the study was a survey where questionnaires were used as the main tool
for data collection where likert scale was applied.
Importantly, the study established that the application of SCM practices have contributed positively to the SCM performance since most of its aspects were fulfilled to moderate
extend. However, there were some requirements that were not sufficiently addressed by
the SCM practices which the study provided various recommendations to be
implemented. For instance, the study recommended that the Authority should have a
change management programme to address staff resistance problems. Nevertheless, the
study also proposed that a study should be undertaken to develop a monitoring and
evaluation framework for SCM practices being applied.
