Abstract
The purpose of the study was to establish the extent of strategic leadership practices at Wrigley
East Africa. The study was carried out through a case study design. The study made use of
primary data. Interview guides were used to solicit data on the changes in the Wrigley East
Africa's environment and the responses thereto. Respondents of the study were 10 managers
drawn from the all departments, namely; finance manager, marketing manager, human resource
manager, general management, sales manager, and quality assurance manager among other
Factory managers. The primary data was qualitative in nature hence content analysis was used to
analyze the data. The study concluded that strategic leadership is a procedure that not only
influenced employees, but leaders as well, to accomplish the goals of the organization through
change. The study made the following recommendations: use of communication as a leadership
strategy because of the ability to communicate effectively makes an enormous di Ifcrcncc in
employees' attitudes toward the total organ ization goals; organ izations should cui tivatc trust and
integrity within and without the organization to help in communication strategies that develop
strong positive relationships; leadership's strategy on change management works for the
organization and it helps in adapting to changes; the organisation's strategic results achieved in
the organization meets the organisation objectives; organizations should communicate the
organisation's vision to employees; strategic management is a potentially powerful tool for
coping with the conditions of change which surround firms today and last but not least strategic
leadership develops a certain form of organization and brings order to the company especially in
forming the structure of communication.
