In response to a news feature recently aired in the media on the plight of girls in Marigat, University of Nairobi students under the aegis of the Women Students Welfare Association (WOSWA) and the Students Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) set up a campaign to collect sanitary towels from the University community. The initiative dubbed ‘We Have Seen Her Suffer, It’s Time for Comrades to Act,’ collected over 1,000 packets of sanitary towels and 1,000 rolls of tissue paper, which were presented to Citizen TV, for delivery. During the handing over ceremony, the WOSWA Chairlady, Mickey Ochieng’ pledged WOSWAS commitment to continue supporting the initiative, noting that plans are underway for a major campaign early in 2014.en_US
