dc.description.abstractIn a colourful ceremony held on 5th September 2013, the University of Nairobi Alumni Association (UONAA) launched both the Engineering and ADD Alumni Chapters. These are the eighth and nineth Chapters to be established since the inception of the Alumni Association in 2005. The well attended event was graced by Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure, Eng. Michael Kamau and Principal Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Development, Architect Mariam El Mawy both of whom congratulated the University on the launch of the new chapters. Through the Alumni Association, the University was challenged to keep its members updated on its activities and engage them in various projects. The need to create and strengthen relationships between the University and the private sector players was also highlighted. Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Production and Extension, Prof. Lucy Irungu, said that through the launch of the Chapters, the alumni will contribute more to the development of the schools and raise resources to build its own capacity and enhance opportunities for its members. She commended the alumni from the College of Architecture and Engineering (CAE) for supporting its alma mater especially in the realization of the two Chapters. Other Chapters which have been launched include MBA, Medicine, Veterinary, Agriculture, Journalism, Science, Range Management and most recently Diplomacy and International Relations. The event was sponsored by the Communication Commission of Kenya (CCK), Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (KETRACO), General Motors East Africa (GM EA), Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK), Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board (KNEB) and Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC)en_US
