UoN Red Cross Chapter ranked top in Kenya
Abstract
The University of Nairobi (UoN) Red Cross Chapter recently clinched the University Chapters Volunteer Programme Award after being ranked top by the National Society for its exemplary service to humanity.
The team was presented with a certificate of recognition, trophy and a cash prize to be used on a community project of their choice
The award recognizes any public or private university which has a strong Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) club or chapter that has made a difference in the lives of the vulnerable in the communities where the university is located.
For the last 48 years, the University of Nairobi Red Cross Chapter has contributed to the society by holding blood mobilization activities, raising funds that have been used to purchase food and clothing for local orphaned children’s homes, supported those in need through visits to patients in hospital and convicts in various prisons including Kamiti Maximum Security Prison and the elderly. The Chapter has held various clean up exercises in local markets and participated in activities aimed at promoting life and health such as the measles campaigns. The chapter was also actively involved in the 2013 Choose Peace Campaign.
Kudos to the UoN Red Cross Chapter!
