dc.description.abstractThe new officials were taken through talks and presentations by various University officials including the Deputy Vice Chancellor- Student Affairs, Prof. I.M Mbeche. In his remarks, Prof. Mbeche emphasized on the need for the student leadership to put the students' welfare first, be leaders of integrity and to include bursaries for needy students. Others who addressed the SONU leadership were the Dean of Students, Dr. Fr. Wamugunda Wakimani, Mr. Micheal Karue, the Finance Officer who presented on financial rules and regulations and budgeting which the student organization is expected to adhere to. Mr. J.M Mokaya, the Procurement Officer covered procurement rules and regulations of the University, while Mr. W. Wahome, the Chief Security Officer discussed on the need to be more vigilant in matters of security and encouraged the student leaders to report on issues that affect students including students who deal with drugs and alcohol. Community policing amongst the students was also discussed. Among the SONU executive officials present were Zack Kinuthia, Chairman, Edith Mwirigi, Secretary General and Jane Chege, Treasure. The new officials promised that while in office they will ensure a leadership of integrity, accountability and equality.
