While making his presentation on Africa: The Growth Continent for the 21st Century”, he said that Africans today are more confident and hopeful in the future than ever before. This is also the great transformation that I have seen in the attitude of African negotiators in WTO: confident that trade, if coupled with domestic policies and Aid for Trade, can be an engine for growth.” The address was made at the University of Nairobi’s Council Chambers in a function attended by Dr Mukhisa Kituyi nominee for the position of Secretary General, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) among other dignitaries. The Director-General was received by Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Affairs who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Mutoro, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Jane Mariara, Director, School of Economics and Mr. Jasper Okello, the WTO Chair at the University of Nairobi, staff and PhD students among others.en_US
