dc.description.abstractDyscalculia is a profound arithmetic disorder that causes difficulties in learning mathematical concepts, memorizing mathematical facts and understanding how mathematical problems are solved. While using ICT to assist students with such learning disability is evident in studies carried out in the context of developed countries, it appears that in Kenyan schools the remediation for students with difficulties in learning of mathematics is through the traditional method of tuition. Thus a need exists to carry out a situational analysis of the use of ICT to assist dyscalculics for primary schools in Kenya, in Starehe district. Five objectives and five hypothesis were developed for the purposed of conducting this research. In the literature review the study has derived its conceptual framework from several theoretical frameworks namely; technological acceptance theory, extended technological theory, reason action theory among others. In the methodology, the study used descriptive survey to give answers to the questions through analysing factors associated with certain occurrences, outcome, conditions and behaviours. A total of 144 mathematics teacher in public Primary Schools in Starehe District Nairobi County formed the target population of the study. This study used random and purposive sampling to sample two mathematics teachers from each school thus making a sample population of 48 respondents of mathematic teachers formed the sample size. This study employed semi structured questionnaires for data collection. Descriptive statistics was used to analyse the data obtained. The other methods used to analyse the data are correlation analysis, mmultiple regression analysis and factor analysis. Tables of distribution and percentages were mainly be used to present the results. Study, not only has it revealed that the use of ICT would improve mathematic performance, I but also that teacher’s attitude, experience, technological software and hardware need to be looked into for effective usage of ICT in assisting dyscalculia students in Kenya. Therefore the study recommended that the government should provide both hardware and software to primary schools and at the same time organize for training and workshops for mathematics teachers.en_US
