In an effort to keep with dynamics of the changing environment the University Management Board commissioned the Security Department to carry out a fire drill to gauge and evaluate the level of preparedness by University community in the event of fire or any other emergency. Security Department planned for and carried out a fire drill at the ADD building. Just like it was expected the emergency system sounded fire alarm and the building was evacuated as though a real fire had occurred. It took the security personnel short time to evacuate the building and as such the University Health Services (UHS) paramedics responded promptly.UoN has undergone tremendous changes over the years in management of its affairs as it has strived to break away from conventional systems of managing activities moving towards embracing modern management techniques. Key indicators of this paradigm shift are that the University has embraced the performance management technique which is considered the major driver of change including but not limited to: being ISO certified, implementation of the Strategic Plan 2008/2013, Performance Contracting and the annual Staff Performance Appraisals. These, among other developments continue to play a central role in propelling the University towards world class excellence, while at the same time keeping track with the Japanese “gemba Kaizen” concept of continuous improvementen_US
