The counterimmunoelectrophoresis test (CIE) was developed for the diagnosis of C. fetus infection in cattle. It was positive in 8 of 10 cases where the vaginal mucus agglutination test (VMAT) and culture were also positive. On two farms CIE gave conclusive evidence of infection when VMAT was inconclusive. CIE could replace the VMAT in the immunodiagnosis of this disease.en_US
