dc.description.abstract | Sustainability reveals the effects of how we consumers use, renew, and account for environmental capital. Supply chains enable consumers to have access to high quality products and services at the lowest possible cost. A socially and environmentally responsible company will also focus on the lowest environmental and social cost. This of course will only happen once consumers incorporate environmental and social considerations into every purchasing decision they make. The globalization of goods and services has not been accompanied by changes in people and consumer values to support, and be in harmony with, sustainable practices. Sustainable Development will only be possible with changes in values that will lead to changes in consumption patterns eliminating our over consumption tendency and fostering a sustainable relationship between us and the environment. Changes in education methods and practices, in all forms and at all levels will create a collective awareness towards a sustainable lifestyle. This is how to learn to respect yourself, respect others and to help perpetuate life on Earth! | en_US |
