Core banking management information systems are the foundation upon which financial institutions worldwide run their business, serve their clients, and provide differentiated products and services to gain competitive advantage. Savings and credit cooperatives in developing countries require the same foundation for the same reasons but have fewer vendor choices, more limited budgets, and sometimes unique requirements, leaving savings and credit cooperatives to build their own systems or make do with spreadsheets or even manual paper systems. This research paper employed the ISO/IEC 25010 Software Product Quality Model to evaluate the management information systems used by savings and credit cooperatives in Kenya to determine their level of performance in supporting their business. This was accomplished through a questionnaire designed as per the quality characteristics defined by the model and distributed to sampled system administrators. The results indicated that the management information systems in use currently by the savings and credit cooperatives serve them well in terms of functionality, efficiency, reliability, ease of use and portability. However, vendor support, technical training and implementation process are a big concern to them.en_US
